NRA Basic Pistol

This course goal is to provide you with the knowledge, skills and attitude required to safely handle handguns.
The course is focused on teaching gun safety and the basics of pistol marksmanship. You will learn about the parts and operation of the different kinds of handguns.  You will also learn about how ammunition works and the different types of ammunition.  With the foundation of guns and ammo out of the way we move into the fundamentals of handgun shooting

  • Sight Alignment
  • Trigger Squeeze
  • Follow Through

This 8 hour course offers a solid base upon which a student can safely build their shooting skills.  There are around two hours of shooting time on the range. All course materials including targets will be provided but ammunition is not included.
A firearm can also be loaned to you if needed.
A certificate of training will be awarded to all participants who successfully complete the course .
This course meets the requirements for a concealed weapons permit in Montana and 22 other states.
What you need to bring:

  • Your handgun 200 rounds of ammo (100 for revolvers)
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Cleaning Kit  
  • Bring a lunch and something to drink. We take only a short break to eat between the morning classroom session and the afternoon range time.

NRA textbook and certificate included.

You may also schedule a private lesson with up to four students.  A private lesson is $360 plus $12 per student for the NRA materials.
